Charlie is the Co-Founder and former President of Brand g Vacations - a dynamic LGBT tour operator that encompasses our passion for discovering the new, revisiting the familiar, and giving back to the destinations that have led the way for the improvement of the lives of our community globally.
From 1988 to 2010 he worked at RSVP Vacations, the originator of the gay and lesbian cruise concept. He created and launched Give OUT Day, the first ever National LGBT Day of Giving as well as co-founding Aturi.org a site that raises awareness of global LGBT issues.
Charlie is the founding chair of the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) Foundation and has served on the boards of Amnesty International Executive Directors Leadership Council, The Center for Victims of Torture, Minnesota Aids Project, the Kevin J. Mossier Foundation, the Civil Marriage Collaborative, and the Movement Advancement Project. In 2011 Charlie was bestowed the IGLTA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Charlie and his husband Mark Hiemenz live in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota.
